The Launch of the Quick Touch Crisp by Breville #QuickTouchCrisp

Quick Touch Crisp Launch - sixtimemommy.com

As a blogger one of the perks we get to enjoy is being invited to fun and interesting events. While I’ve been invited to my fair share over the last year and a bit I haven’t really been able to work them in to my schedule for many reasons until last week! I was invited to the Quick Touch Crisp launch by Breville at the Ritz Carlton in Toronto last Wednesday. I was thrilled when we were able to work our schedules out so I could be there and my husband could be home with the kiddos who were home.

When we arrived at the event the butterflies were in full swing in my belly, but I was really excited to see what this innovative new microwave had to offer.  Breville is one of our favourite brands here in our house, as you may recall my husband’s most favourite thing in our whole house is his Breville smart grill (if there was wife/blogger of the year I’d have won it for sure for that one!)

The event was due to start at 11:30a – we got there just shortly after 11. Jordan tagged along with me to not only learn more about what I do, but to also take photos for me while I took notes – and also experience a live event. It will be turned in to a fun post sometime this summer with all the stuff he’s been helping me do (stay tuned!) anyways, we got my name tag, checked our coats and down to a table we went to sit so I could read the information I was given about the product. Breville had more products being featured at this event but the gorgeous, innovative new Quick Touch Crisp was the star of the show and I was ready to see what it was all about.

After a quick word we were shown a video and then send off to stations to learn about the Quick Touch Crisp and all the amazing features and functions. We each had #QuickTouchCrisp written on the bottom of our name tags and they were all colour coded. We had groups and which were colour coded with our tags and we had to start at the first station of our colour. Our first station was #1 – the Pizza station!

I was really interested to see how these stations would work. The pizza one was pretty exciting because who doesn’t love pizza! I quickly wrote down all I could as the ladies were talking. With the Quick Touch Crisp it’s different than your regular microwave. Why? Because of the crisp factor. Do you ever reheat pizza in the microwave and it’s soggy and floppy? I hate that. I’m a huge pizza lover and I don’t do soggy, floppy pizza. The Quick Touch Crisp takes care of that problem – seriously. Although it’s limited in the size of pizza you can reheat in the oven, if it fits on the Crisper Pan you will get a crispy not soggy pizza! I was amazed when the pizza was done and we all got to try it – the crisp when you bite into it was amazing. Even Jordan was floored that it was actually crispy!

With an aluminum base, and stainless steel legs the innovated Crisper Pan is the ultimate for crisping. How does that work? Well, when you have the crisper pan and legs open it will sit close to the elements (top and bottom) and be able to crisp on the bottom as well as the top. For the pizza it’s essential you heat the crisper pan prior to adding your pizza, but with a really detailed manual – this is quick to catch on to! (can also be downloaded here)

With 4 stations in total to get to – Pizza, Roasted Nuts, Melted Chocolate and Grilled Cheese (YES! You can make a grilled cheese sandwich in the Quick Touch Crisp and the results? AMAZING!) I took my time to listen to try to learn everything I could. From the fact they cooked a full and raw chicken in the Quick Touch Crisp for 1hr20min and it was amazingly juicy with a crispy skin, to the sensor IQ, to favourite settings for: beverages, popcorn, bacon, potatoes, pizza, grilled cheese, frozen snacks, melted chocolate and soften butter to the fact that there is also a child lock to keep those little fingers from pressing buttons – talk about a wonder microwave!

The stations also made things for us to try, I of course forgot to snap a photo of the pizza before Jordan and I got in in our bellies but I was able to snap a few photos of the roasted nuts and grilled cheese.

About the Quick Touch Crisp

The easy to use inverter microwave combines more even heating, brown and crispy results, with features of the Quick Touch. This microwave knows the right power level and time to suit different food types and switches to grill when it’s needed.

The integrated crisper pan with an in-built preheat function works in conjunction with the microwave and grill to crisp and brown foods that normally become soggy from standard microwave reheating such as pies, quiches, pastries and pizza.

With a simple press of a smart button the microwave offers a selection of the most commonly used food types in cook, grill, reheat and defrost modes. Microwave and grill times and power levels are automatically determined for optimum results.

The shortcuts panel on the inside door makes the microwave very easy to use. The one-touch auto buttons provide access to your favourite setting and commonly used tasks such as melting chocolate, softening butter, baking potato and grilled cheese. 30 second instant start and A Bit More™ add futher simplicity to the ease of use.

If you are looking for a microwave that does it all – and I do mean all, you will want to check out the Quick Touch Crisp. We were lucky enough to leave the event with one and we’ve been using it for a few days. I was not sorry to see our old microwave that failed us each and every time we tried to make a bag of popcorn, and that left our pizza soggy and floppy go.

The Quick Touch Crisp has all the features and more we could ever want. In the summer when it’s so hot outside the last thing we want to do is turn on the oven to cook a meal – we won’t have to, and it won’t turn out to be a sad meal… It will be crispy, good and full of flavour. I am ready to change the way I work in my kitchen and thanks to Breville it just got a whole lot better!

Check back in a few weeks after we’ve had time to use the Quick Touch Crisp for a while as I will be posting an update!

  1. So, my first question was how does the crisper pan work in the microwave, because of the aluminum legs and the pan both being metal. If I leave my spoon in my food when I reheat it, it sparks like a mother.

This actually does look like a really fascinating advancement in microwaves.

    • Great question!

The pan is aluminium in material which is a great conductor of heat and retains heat well. There are a lot of misconceptions about metal in the microwave. A good way to describe it is… sparks are created in the microwave from metal objects with two or more sharp points like a fork for example. When two points (fork prongs) are joined by the microwaves it creates a spark. Because the pan is one continuous surface without sharp edges it is safe to use and will not spark.

  2. I love the convenience of a microwave but normally avoid it for reheating leftovers because of the limp and soggy factor. This Breville looks like it really revolutionizes microwave use!

  3. That is a nice oven! Having the convenience of a microwave and conventional oven all in one. It seems like an awesome product that I have to check into! Thank you for the post!

  4. This is really neat. Reheated pizza can be so gross, so having the ability to make it crispy in the microwave is a big deal!

  5. Ok, you had me sold on the pizza part. I hate reheating my pizza in our oven because it is always soggy. If this eliminates that, oh, happy day! This baby is going on my Christmas wishlist this year!

  6. My microwave gets used all the time. I don’t love the way it cooks, but it’s simple. This sounds like a great solution to have convenience & great food.

  7. Okay my mother had an inverter microwave on her Coach and I was always jealous of what she could cook on the go in such a small space. She used to make the most delicious pizzas! I think I’d love to have this in my kitchen. With only 2 of us at home I need simple solutions for smaller meals- who wants to turn on an oven for just 2 people?

  8. We tossed our microwave years ago and now I really want this intuitive device! Thanks for introducing me. :)

  9. My 20 year (yes believe it or not) is on it’s last leg. I may soon have to replace it with a new microwave. This one looks great and I am already loving all its features.

  10. How cool is this! We are looking into moving and considering not having a unit that goes above our stove. I like how advanced this is and all of the amazing options. I need to check this out, how cool!

  11. I like the features you’ve listed. I do like the quick crisp too, for pizzas especially. And you’re right, who doesn’t love pizza! :)
