Disclosure: This post is in partnership with Blue Diamond Almond Breeze. As always opinions are all mine.
With the warmer weather approaching, I have been getting more creative in the kitchen! I’ve been trying new recipes and creating my own to see what works best for our family. I’ve been making a different variety of milkshakes for the past few weeks, and this one is a big winner.
This recipe I wanted simple yet healthy. I decided to try using only three ingredients to make it so, and I was surprised how delicious it turned out. I am not a big fan of trying new things, so I’ve been testing myself with all new ingredients to me.
Almond Breeze is a delicious almond beverage alternative to dairy that is lactose and gluten free. It tastes great on its own or in recipes and has a creamy smooth texture and hint-of-almond taste. It is made with high-quality real California almonds that come straight from growers within Blue Diamond’s cooperative that have been in the almond business for 100 years.
While we aren’t gluten-free or lactose-free in our house, we still like having an alternative, and the fact you can get Chocolate Almond Breeze instead of adding a bunch of different things to create a chocolate shake appealed to me.
I decided to use frozen yogurt for this because I wanted to try something a little different and healthier. I will say, it was a smart move. This is such a delicious, easy and kid friendly recipe. My children LOVED it.
- 2 Cups Blue Diamond Chocolate Almond Breeze
- 2 1/2 Cups Frozen Yogurt
- Fresh Raspberries
Note: You can remove the yogurt if you wanted and use ice cubes. I tried this as well, and although it wasn’t as creamy as I like milkshakes to be, it was still delicious. The Almond Breeze is so flavourful you could make it a two ingredient shake!
- I start by putting the frozen yogurt into my blender and mix a little bit. Add the 2 cups of Almond Breeze and blend until thick consistency.
- Place 4-5 freshly washed fresh raspberries at the bottom of your glasses, pour milkshake mixture over top until you reach the middle of the glass
- Place three more raspberries and continue filling to the top
- Cut up one raspberry, place on top. Add a straw and enjoy!
Yields: 3 1/2 Milkshake cups
I know for myself being healthy is something I push for, especially since my last pregnancy and my gestational diabetes. It’s a real awakening, so finding ways to enjoy things like milkshakes without losing flavor and being healthy doesn’t have to be hard. I am picky when it comes to my shakes and drinks even in general. So, to me, this is a big win finding something so simple to make and so easy to enjoy.
As I mentioned before my kids loved this recipe. They had never tried Almond Breeze or an Almond beverage before, so I was nervous they’d have something picky to say because let’s face it — kids can be picky! I was pleasantly surprised to hear nothing, but positive comments and three children even asked for more!
I had to make a second batch, which is entirely okay with me. I got to enjoy some too, which is pretty unheard of when it comes to recipes I make here on the blog. But, I was able to indulge and not feel guilty about it, and that felt pretty great.
Almond Breeze Almond beverage is made from all real natural California almonds. It contains 60 calories per serving (1 cup). It tastes great without a weird after taste. It is a deliciously creamy alternative to dairy, so if you didn’t do dairy this would be perfect for you – just replace the yogurt with ice cubes!
I don’t know about you but I am really looking forward to the warmer weather and many more delicious recipes like this one! I can’t wait to see what other recipes I can come up with including delicious Almond Breeze. There is also Original, Vanilla, Coconut and Unsweetened versions I have yet to try!
Have you ever tried Almond Breeze before? Have you ever used it in a yummy recipe?
