7 Tips for Packing a Picnic for the Park With Kids + Strawberry Cheesecake Bites Recipe

7 tips for Packing a Picnic at the Park with KIDS! + Strawberry Cheesecake Bites Recipe! - sixtimemommy.comThe warm weather has arrived! Do you know how excited us Canadians are for WARM WEATHER? Oh yes! The excitement could be shouted from roof tops!

One thing my husband and I have been doing since we first got together is going on picnics! Now, they used to be filled with more variety while now they are filled with more quantity as our family has gotten bigger, but one thing has stayed the same. What I pack!

Here are some tips I’ve picked up along the way when it comes to packing for a picnic at the park with kiddos!

Don’t forget the first aid kit
Which also includes an extra handful of band aids. I can’t tell you how many times I have needed more band aids than brought and I’ve been pretty upset about it. Don’t forget!

Make or Buy some Bug spray
I buy bug spray, but I’ve also been known to make my own. Regardless, make sure you bring some! Depending on which park we go to bugs can be a real killjoy.

Must remember! Extra bags for garbage
While most parks do have garbage bins I like putting my stuff in bags while we sit so we don’t attract bugs or birds. It’s also easiest for clean up when taking it all to the trash.

Always have Extra water
We fill up as many containers, jugs and bottles as we can. Someone is always thirsty and asking for a drink. If you have no where to buy drinks while out take lots of water!

You will certainly need Wipes/Wet Ones
I forget these often. So I’ve made it a point to make sure I pack them in my little zip pouch I bring with me everywhere!

Sunscreen, hats, toys and a blanket a must!
Because you need go be safe in the sun and toys? I find little ones get bored quickly when they can’t be running around with the older kids. If you intend on sitting somewhere other than a picnic table – be sure to take a blanket!

Money for any unforeseen reasons (hey, the ice cream truck is a struggle to say no to!)
YEP. We rarely go anywhere now without some pocket change in the summer. Those pesky ice cream trucks always know where you will be, so they will always find you and get those kids hyped! Shaved ice, a cold drink or a small ice cream to top off the picnic is a nice treat!
