We love reading! It’s one of the things in our house we are encouraging on a daily basis. We read with our kids, to our kids and have our kids read to us often. One thing that has been an issue lately is getting the older kids reading as much as they should. When I was asked to do this post for Ask Emma, I was thrilled because I knew it was a book Ava would love, as I had just read about it somewhere else, I knew it would be perfect for her!

Ava loves reading, but hasn’t been doing much of it lately. Why was I sure this book would be loved by Ava? Her and her sister have had their fair share of dealings with bullying. Kyla is actually still dealing with some ongoing issues, so she will get this book next. But, I was right! Ava does love it, and she said she would read it a few times!

Ava said her favourite part of the book is how Emma starts a blog. She loves my blog and wants to blog herself when she can so she think its really cool Emma started a blog. Not so cool what her classmates started asking her, and bugging her about but you’ll have to read the book to get the full story! Ask Emma hit shelves May 1, 2018, is published by Little Bee Books and is recommended for ages 8-12.

Emma Woods knows just how to fix all her peers’ problems-or so she thinks-in this first book in the brand-new middle grade series Ask Emma, from the bestselling creators behind the Cupcake Club series!

When 13-year-old Emma Woods gets that tingling feeling in her fingertips, she knows she’s on to a great idea-and starting an advice blog for her classmates at Austen Middle may be one of her most brilliant ones yet! Who better to give advice on friendship, style, school, and even crushes than someone who’s going through it too?

But when Ask Emma goes live, she quickly realizes not everyone sees it that way. Suddenly, Emma is bombarded with peers asking her to help them postpone quizzes, get out of detention, and cut gym class short. This wasn’t exactly what she had in mind. . . .What’s worse, someone is posting hurtful comments, telling her to mind her own business. Despite her good intentions, Emma’s blog seems to only be getting her-and her friends–deeper and deeper into trouble.

Will Ask Emma come to an end before it’s really begun? Or can Emma find her voice, write what’s in her heart, and truly stand up for what she believes in?

This sounds like a great book for young girls. One of the girls that I watch is just getting to the stage that she’s not quite a teenager but she’s not quite a kid either. Something like this could probably give her some more confidence that she needs.

We are all big readers in my house. The library and book store are our favorites places to visit. All my kids love to read and they have shown their children how to love to read.

These sound like great books. Sadly with all the social media, kids have to deal with bullies and lots of negative comments. Reading about someone dealing with that should help them deal with it in real life.

I love this book and how it talks about bullying. I think it’s a good read especially for teens and tweens who are very much prone to experiencing this. It’s a good way for them to understand what cyber bullying is all about and how to handle it.
