Over the last several years I’ve found great joy in bringing you amazing companies, brands and stories to read and am thrilled that today is going to be a little different. Today I’m bringing you, Surrogacy: Canadian Fertility Consulting. A look at the company that has the power to change lives and families forever and how you can get involved!
Disclosure: This post is in partnership with Canadian Fertility Consulting. As always, all opinions are my own.
Pregnancy is a magical time. Sadly, not everyone gets to experience it. Often times there are those who do but don’t get the joy of getting to the end of pregnancy with a little bundle of joy in their arms. Instead, this journey can be filled with sadness, emptiness, anger, and heartbreak.
This is where Canadian Fertility Consulting comes in. Not only do they have the power to change lives and families they also have a lot of resources for those looking to help (or receive help) and I’m here today to share some of those with you.
I recently had the opportunity to interview the CEO and Founder of Canadian Fertility Consulting, Leia Swanberg, and I had the pleasure of asking some questions I know most of you will will have after reading thus far.
Before jumping right in I wanted to share a little bit about the company with you:
” Canadian Fertility Consulting is Canada’s largest surrogacy and egg donation agency. Helping thousands of parents achieve their dreams of building a family through surrogacy and egg donation.
The goal at Canadian Fertility Consulting is to make the surrogacy process as stress-free and successful as possible. ”
INTERVIEW:
What should couples consider when they want to use a surrogate that you don’t think they’d think about before contacting you for your services?
CFC works with surrogates all over Canada. We have been in the surrogacy space for over 12 years and we have helped over 1300 intended parents start their journey to parenthood with a child of their own thanks to our beautiful, strong and courageous surrogate mothers. Our commitment, skills and compassion are unparalleled by other agencies in the fertility industry. At CFC we are dedicated to providing you with effective and ethical third-party reproduction options. We introduce surrogate mothers to couples or individuals who need help fulfilling their dreams of parenthood and provide guidance and support throughout the rest of their process.
Is there anything a potential surrogate should consider before applying to become a surrogate?
Women should know that there is no “ideal” surrogate type. All we know is she is brave, she is strong, and wanting to create something beautiful for those who are ready to walk that path towards parenthood. Other than that there are a few things a woman needs in order to qualify for surrogacy:
– Be between the ages of 21 and 47
– Have carried a child of their own to full term
– Be a non-smoker
– Not use recreational drugs
– Have a healthy BMI
– Be healthy with regular menstrual cycles
– Be willing to undergo a medical and psychological assessment for both yourself and your partner
– Be fully committed to the surrogacy process
Why should someone choose your services if they are looking for a surrogate?
There are 4 main reasons why someone should choose our services when ready to start their surrogacy journey.
First and foremost, our experience is a key factor since being in the industry for many years our team are experts in this field and actually many of our staff have been surrogates or intended parents who can relate and help you navigate the process. Secondly, we provide the best guidance during your whole surrogacy journey from start to finish. We have strong relationships with the top fertility professionals in the world to ensure our clients receive the best level of care possible. Communication is also very important to us and we provide 24/7 support to our surrogates, intended parents and egg donors. Our case specialists and support staff are available for any emergency, time or emotionally sensitive situation. Lastly, we understand that this can be a difficult and potentially overwhelming time for our clients. Our promise is to provide you with caring, sensitive and compassionate support.
Is there any examples you can give me that would help a couple trying to decide what company to go with to expand their family, after trying for years – to help decide to go with Canadian Fertility Consulting?

Lastly, if someone were looking to become a surrogate but they were afraid of the legalities of it all or the feelings that come at the end (come delivery time) – what do you recommend?
Surrogacy in Canada is legal, but providing compensation to the surrogate is prohibited under the Assisted Human Reproduction Act, https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/a-13.4/page-1.html. A Canadian surrogate can, however, be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses they incur as a result of the pregnancy-this is known as altruistic surrogacy. Canadian Fertility Consulting works within the legal and legislative framework to provide expert assistance, and to help you navigate the often confusing and contradictory regulations. We have the right people in place to make sure you are taken care of 24/7 for any emergency, time or emotionally sensitive matter and will help you through any circumstances that may arise during your surrogacy journey.
I learned a lot from these questions and I know I’ve had a few readers in the past ask me if I had help having my 8 babies, I even had a friend ask me if I’d consider being her surrogate. Pregnancy is something I love and cherish, but it’s also something I know a lot struggle with.
