I am one who loves to clean, and make sure things are looking great but I HATE using chemicals. I love using the eco friendly and all natural store bought cleaners but sometimes I just don’t want to spend the money.
We have a bird (parrot) that is very sensitive to lots of things, including smells/sprays/cleaners. So we have to be very careful with what we use in our house. Sometimes I’m out of options, and if I need to clean something like windows, table surfaces, or floors I need to come up with other ideas.
Making your own cleaners has become super popular lately, especially with the use of essential oils and other things like lemons, limes, and mint. You can make the scents as strong or as light as you want it, and the cleaners work really, really well!
Here is a great recipe for a DIY all natural cleaner you can do yourself, fill up an extra spray bottle and keep on hand. Usually, I have all the ingredients for it on hand anyway so it’s great in a pinch too when you run out of the store bought faves!
- 1/4 C Baking Soda
- 1/2 C Vinegar
- 1/2 C Water
- Splash of Lemon Juice
- Spray bottle
- Add baking soda and vinegar together……add to water….pour into a bottle with spray lid….gently shake to blend ingredients.
- Store….when ready to use again…shake to combine ingredients.
- Spray on the surface and wipe it down with a microfiber towel, old rags, t-shirts or paper towel.
When it comes to cleaning you always want something that will be tough on dirt, grime and grease but you also want something safe, non toxic and that works well.. I find DIY cleaners often better than store bought, depending on which brands and how much money you want to spend! You won’t find a cleaner more natural then this type though and they are my faves. The smell isn’t harsh and it won’t harm children, pets or allergies!
