We are so thrilled to be through a terrible year and look forward to new beginnings come September! This week I’m enjoying having the kids help out in the kitchen. We took them to the fresh market the other day where we picked out so much fresh fruit, and got to go for a long walk around downtown. It was such fun.
I am looking forward to a long summer of very muted schedules, daily walks, trips to the park and of course some other life changing events we are planning to happen very soon.
For now, let’s talk about kids and their appetites. WHAT IS GOING ON? My kids would eat all day if I allowed them, and I’m not even exaggerating the slightest. Last month we spent well over $1,300 on groceries, and that is on top of me baking and cooking meals, and treats to keep everybody full.
WHERE DO THEY PUT IT ALL?
I swear, I look at a candy bar or a bag of chips and I gain 10lbs. Of course, that’s because I eat said candy bar or chips but – uh – It shows on me!
Kids are so different, they are blessed with amazing metabolism (at least my 6!) and can eat just about anything and you’d never know it. I guess it’s a good thing, but I worry as they get older and things change. So, I’m always trying to find new ways to introduce healthier options and keep them not only happy, but with full bellies.
This brings me to this recipe, the whole reason you are here – The Double Smoothie Bowl
- INGREDIENTS FOR ACAI SMOOTHIE:
- 1 packet of Acai Berry (the pic shows the bag and 4 frozen packets come inside)
- 1 banana
- 1/3 cup water
- INGREDIENTS FOR THE RASPBERRY SMOOTHIE:
- 1 Frozen banana
- 1/2 cup of raspberries
- 1/3 cup milk
- Blend each smoothie. Pour the acai berry smoothie first, then pour the raspberry one over it. You can add fruits such as: kiwi, banana, blueberries, mango, shredded coconut, nuts, chia seeds….etc.
Talk about delicious. My kids are really starting to love Acai so I plan to make this LOTS this summer. Refreshing and different but also healthy, so why not? Right?
