It’s getting so close! Which means my kids are all Christmas, all the time. They want to watch Christmas movies, talk about Christmas, touch the Christmas tree, listen to Christmas music — you name it if it has to do with Christmas you can bet its being talked about, watched, or listened to in our house!
I love it though, it’s the most magical time of year and yesterday we had our first snow fall that actually stayed on the ground! It looks so lovely, I haven’t been out in it yet so my feelings on snow will change as they do every year but for now I’m admiring from inside!
Although it’s really fun to go out and play in the snow it isn’t always ideal, especially in Canada when it gets really cold outside. So we like to do crafts and other fun things beside plop ourselves in front of electronics all the time. One craft we think is fabulous is making our own Christmas trees the kids can have in their rooms, decorate how they want and get to have a Christmas tree in their rooms (or wherever) without all the mess or fear of the ornaments and tree being knocked over!
Yup – it’s a Christmas tree craft! Super easy, cute and fun. Hang it on the wall, fridge, or send off to grandma! It’s something kids of all ages can do and enjoy doing together!
Materials Needed:
- Fake pine stems
- Thick Popsicle stick
- Green craft paint
- Tiny Pom-poms
- Yellow Pom-poms
- White paper
- Hot glue gun/glue sticks
- Paint brush
Instructions:
- Paint your Popsicle stick green and let dry
- Hot glue your Popsicle stick vertically in the center of your white paper
- Cut about 8 pieces of your pine stems, 1 slightly smaller than the next
- Start hot glueing your stems onto your green Popsicle stick, starting with the largest at the bottom and the smallest at the top
- Start glueing your tiny Pom-poms all over your Christmas tree
- To finish your Christmas tree, glue one of your regular sized yellow Pom-poms at the top to look like a star
Super cute and super easy! Kids can hang them on their own wall to have a little bit of Christmas in their room or give them as a little gift. My kids love having them on their bedroom walls and decorating how they want! It’s a really easy and fun craft they don’t need much help with!
