Do you have issues with sleep? anxiety or a child with ADHD? If so, this is the post for you! Today we’re talking about the Gravid weighted blanket and are thrilled to share with you why the Gravid Weighted Blanket: For Anxiety and Insomnia should be on your Christmas list this year!
Disclosure: This post is in partnership with Gravid. As always, opinions are all my own.
As most of you know if you’ve been reading here for a while my ten-year-old, Jayden was diagnosed with ADHD not too long ago so it’s been a journey for us to tackle. Although frustrating for us as parents at times its most frustrating for Jay, so when I was asked if I wanted to try these Gravid blankets I knew I couldn’t say no. Weighted blankets are known to encourage Deep Touch Pressure Stimulation. Something that I had researched quite a bit in the past as with these blankets the weight is intended to provide proprioceptive input to the brain, which has a calming and organizing effect on the central nervous system. Something children with ADHD really need. Note: they don’t work for everybody, and what may be effective for one may not be effective for another. I am not a medical doctor, chat with yours to learn more!
Jayden has had issues with sleep since starting his medication. He often isn’t tired or takes hours to fall asleep at night. Something we’ve been battling for two years. So, when his new Gravid Junior blanket showed up he was so excited as we had researched these blankets before and he had it on his list for Christmas this year. We noticed right away that Jayden’s sleep has improved. He’s only used the blanket for a week now – but I can tell you: he’s sleeping better, in a much better mood during the day and he isn’t as anxious as he normally is. This is huge for us because of Jayden being diagnosed with ADHD, him struggling to sleep and not being able to regulate his anger as a normal child would – this is helping tremendously.
While he sleeps with the blanket, he also brings it all over the house with him to watch tv, sit on the computer to do some research and even to sit at the table to do his homework. He is really loving this blanket and I’m not sure if it’s because it is weighted and he feels secure with it, or because it’s new but whatever it is — I’m so glad it’s bringing much-needed relief to Jayden and hope it continues to do so moving forward.

GREAT FOR ADULTS TOO!
I’m also excited to share I got my own Gravid weighted blanket too! I recently opened up my own business away from the blog and it’s been stressful but also extremely rewarding, busy and amazing so you could imagine the feelings and issues I have had with sleep over the last 6 months! But, I wouldn’t change anything for the world. Instead, I chose to improve something that has been an issue with me for several years: SLEEP.
I have had issues sleeping for so long. I decided since I had heard many good things regarding weighted blankets and anxiety and insomnia what did I have to lose? I’m glad because what a difference!
I got the queen – 15lbs blanket with Microplush cover and it’s been life-changing. I was worried that it would be too heavy, or hot because I don’t really like to be compact when I sleep. I normally sleep with one leg out of my blanket and detest being too hot when sleeping. It was the complete opposite. I found myself falling into a deeper sleep faster, and being hot hasn’t been an issue at all. I find I wake up earlier in the morning ready to tackle the day when before using this blanket I would struggle to get up in the morning and it would take me a good chunk of time to get ready to start my day.
The Gravid weight blanket is a complete game-changer for me. I even use it while on the couch working when I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and stressed.
Why Gravid weighted blankets?
Gravid weighted blankets are made using 100% Tencel Lyocell; an eco-friendly, renewable, high-tenacity fibre which gives it high strength properties. It is softer than cotton, has a luxurious sheen and is extremely breathable. It is also naturally anti-bacterial and gentle on the skin.
For weight, Gravid weighted blankets use non-toxic, micro-rounded glass beads that have a diameter of 1mm. This is the optimal size of bead to keep the weight evenly distributed across the surface of your body. Glass beads are the best material for people with any type of auditory, sensory or physical sensitivities. They are quiet, making them ideal in a bedroom setting.
They invented ZipperTech: A zipper mechanism that goes around the full perimeter of your blanket to keep your Gravid weighted blanket perfectly attached to its cover. No sagging, no bunching.
Gravid weighted blankets also feature a double-stitched grid design along with 7-layer construction to ensure the weight stays evenly distributed for a lifetime. No leaking beads, no shifting weight…ever.
