I get asked a lot how I do it. How I do what?? I usually wonder but then it dawns on me, it’s not exactly normal to have six kids and it’s really not normal to keep a blog updated almost daily, while doing so! So, I figured I would address this question because it does actually get asked a lot.
I am so thrilled with how far Six Time Mommy has come in the 14 months it’s been up. I’ve grown as a person, and writer by updating this blog frequently but also from interacting with other amazingly, talented bloggers around the internet. I really don’t think being a mom of 6 has much impact on how much I blog — Although it can be extremely tough when they are all home for me to get much done where blogging is concerned, but it is possible.
Just like a mom of one, two or three – I blog when I find the time. During naps, while the kids are at school, at bedtime or even if I really need to write something up I’ll get my husband once he gets home from work to hang out downstairs with the kids while I run to my room, write up something quickly and save it for later. Blogging has become really important to me in my life, and when I’m out and about I’m always thinking of what I will write about next or how cool something would be to share here. My blog is a little bit different than others out there because while I do love writing up product reviews it’s also very important to me to share ways I am learning as a parent and hopefully help someone else out there who may be like me. I don’t focus only on reviews, only on parenting or only on one topic. I like to write, and I like to share and if something I happen to share ends up helping someone, even one other person – I’ve done exactly what I want to do. If not, well there’s still time!
Like any blogger finding the time to update, research, snap photos and edit is important. The bloggers I know and am close with all have schedules and routines. They know exactly what they’re doing, and do it oh so well. So – if you can find the time even at night when your little ones are tucked into bed to write up a quick post, you too can blog and keep up with it while having a big (or little!) family.
I’ve recently decided to take weekends off. I don’t blog on weekends so I can spend time with my kids and make sure my focus is on them, and them alone. I also only blog during the day when my littlest 2 are napping and when my homeschooled daughter is beside me doing written work, or something she needs minimal help with. Never when the kids are all home and with me. While I may the odd time have a post published on the weekend – I wrote it during the week!
I am beyond happy with the fact my kids love Six Time Mommy as much as I do! They love helping with reviews, they love being a part of everything I do and blogging is no different. Which is why you will often see photos of them on my blog, or in a review because we all like to do everything we can together! If we can’t, you better believe they weren’t far away when I posted. If they don’t feel like helping with a photo, or using a product to give me feedback they don’t have to! But, we’ve yet to have that happen! They truly do love it, and that too makes keeping STM updated regularly, a priority and so much time spent on it worth it!
Do you blog? How do you find the time to do it all?
