Last Days of Summer: Update on my #LetsLiveBig Resolutions

Disclosure: I am part of the Purina Pet People Ambassador Program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.

A few months ago I shared that this year to Live Big I’d be taking my dogs on more walks. I was going to try to tackle all this baby weight that doesn’t want to seem to “melt off” me (even by breastfeeding, ugh!) and walk regularly and more with my beloved pooches. You can see that post, here.

We moved July 21st, so we are now in a much better area, and city. I feel more comfortable going for more walks and longer ones. So, that’s what I’ve been doing! It has been wonderful, and my dogs seem to really love the extra exercise. Although we haven’t gone out as much as I’d like because some days have been extremely too hot or it is raining (it rains here, A LOT!) , the walks we have been on have been really great.

My kids have even started to come on the walks with me, and want to Live Big with our pets too. It’s really important to us as a pet family that our pets get the same love, care and attention as we do. We love being able to go for walks, play in the backyard and even take our dogs for walks at the dog parks around us.

Now that the summer is coming to a close we have to get creative with the many ways we will still be Living Big with our pets for the Fall and Winter months. That being said, we’ve come up with a couple of ideas to share and hopefully get you motived to Live Big with your pets too!

  • Early morning walks: While it will be much cooler, taking an early morning stroll in the Fall/Winter months actually will get you motivated for the day. Do this a few times a week and watch your energy levels rise.
  • Play in the leaves/snow: If you know dogs you know just how much they love to play. Mine LOVE playing in the leaves during the Fall. Throw them up in the air and watch as your dog (or mine anyway) jumps with glee up at the leaves trying to catch them. Same goes for Snow. Throw it around, build a fort or simply just run around with your pup in the snow. They love it.
  • Have a spa day: Treat yourself to an at home spa day while also pampering your pets. Fun treats and belly rubs will always do the trick!
  • Lots and lots of cuddles: Just because the weather is crummier doesn’t mean you can’t spend some time cuddling with your pet. The best way to relax may be cuddled up on the couch with a comfy blanket, a good book and a nice hot tea – while also snuggling with your favourite fur baby. They look forward to this, more than you’ll ever know!

What are some other ways you can Live Big during the cooler Fall and Winter months? How do you include your pets in your daily lives?
