New Year, New You With Fit4Less: Why New Year’s Fitness Goals Often Fail

Posted on in health/ Sponsored

When the new year begins to roll around everyone is talking about their goals. What they want to do in the new year, how much they want to change their lives and often fitness goals come up. I know for myself, for years, fitness was the only goal I had for the New Year. I never stuck to any of it, and the failure of this always left me feeling miserable afterwards. In an effort to avoid this feeling again in 2018, I started to ask myself the question why did my goals fail year after year?

Why do New Year’s Fitness Goals Often Fail? Well, like most people the first problem I have is that I set unrealistic goals for myself. I know it too, but every year I think it will be different and this will be the year I am able to keep up. The problem with this approach I have learned is that fitness is not something you can necessarily jump right into. If you are like me you have probably come to the realization that fitness takes time, planning and the right goals that aren’t too far-fetched. Have you set new goals for yourself this year? Are your goals attainable and realistic enough?

Here are some ways you can make your goals attainable and realistic for YOU:

  • Join a low-cost gym: No one wants to spend an unreal amount of money on a gym membership especially for a new year, new you goal! The good news is that there are great options out there like Fit4Less, which will not only have you on your way to looking good but won’t break your budget in doing so. Fit4Less which starts at only $4.99 every two weeks (plus a joining fee and tax) is a great option if looking for an individual membership to get you started. On top of this, there is also a Black Card membership, which is a great option for families and couples.Too busy and don’t think you have the time to sneak in that workout? Fit4Less has a 30-Minute Express Circuit that can help to not only keep you on track but probably more importantly on schedule! Fit4Less’ purpose is to give every Canadian the opportunity to live a fit and healthy life. Fit4Less makes high-quality fitness affordable and provides more Canadians with the opportunity to achieve their health and fitness goals. Whatever your fitness goals may be for 2018 Fit4Less is a great place to start!
  • Start small: Don’t think you need to change your diet completely from day one. Start small, cut things from your diet and add things as you go. Start walking more, exercise a little more on breaks at work or the weekends. Don’t push yourself too far too quickly as you want to ensure working out becomes part of a regular ongoing schedule and placing too much stress on this process at the beginning will only lead to long-term disappointment.
  • Make smarter choices: Don’t follow the crowd. Do what is best for you. Not every work out is for everyone. Find what works for you, and stick to it!
  • Be realistic: Don’t set goals for yourself you know you won’t be able to achieve. This is where many individuals fail with new year’s goals – thinking big, wanting more, and trying to reach a goal that isn’t realistic for you. Setting realistic goals not only forces you to think more closely about exactly what you hope to achieve with your fitness moving forward, but also creates a scenario where you are more likely to stick to your goals as you progress throughout the year.

Since the New Year is a time when many people set fitness goals and resolutions, right now is the perfect time to think about joining a gym like Fit4Less. Taking some time to set realistic goals will help in your journey and make 2018 the year you were finally able achieve your desired results.

My fitness goals were something I really struggled with and still do but they are different. Now it’s about how fitness makes my mind feel vs lose weight and I also find the type I enjoyed more. It’s made a huge difference and my goals are so different from before!

There’s nothing better than to focus on your fitness, regardless if it’s the New Year or not. I think Fit4Less has the best deal when it comes to gym memberships!

I really agree with these tips, especially starting small. I often make really big fitness and healthy eating goals, and then, like you, feel bad when they don’t work out. This year I set much smaller goals, and it’s going much better.

I totally agree that a big reason for failure is unrealistic goals. I am working on my fitness but setting small realistic goals to keep myself on track.

Great fitless goals. I am actually thinking now that we are approaching spring, I might cancel my gym membership so I can take longer walks and save money at the same time!

I am in full agreement with all your points. People overreach when it comes to starting out with fitness. They want to do it all at once and they want to go all out. I started out like that too, years ago and later I realised I needed to take it slow and it helped me stay the course.

New year is a great time to get a fresh start on our fitness. Time to work out on a new goal!

I found that my fitness goals were failing every year because they were unrealistic. I set my goals so high that I got discouraged. This year my goal was simply to just do better. Less eating out, slowly working myself into the gym and drinking more water. These goals are achievable and after 1 month in I have seen amazing results.

I don’ know if we have a Fit4Less gym near us. I am working on getting the food on track to get fit. That is my main struggle. I like working out when I feel good.

I’ve never joined a gym before but I’ve been thinking about it lately. I just don’t have the self-motivation these days to do what I need to.

It’s common for people to set goals that can quickly become overwhelming. I’ve never heard of Fit4Less. I wonder if we have them locally.

It’s such a wonderful feeling when you start working out regularly! Your body really starts to crave the movement and it really gives you a lot of energy for the day. Now if I could only get my chocolate addiction under control!

The company I work for had to do some promotions for fit4less a few years ago so I know that they have incredible gyms and the price is a fantastic deal. If you need a gym then it’s a great option to help you with your fitness goals.

My Hubby and I set the goal to work out together on a more consistent schedule. We actually have a gym right at home but never seem to make or find the time to use it.

I always have new fitness goals each year but they never last. This year were kicking things off with a 60 day challenge with our gym!

People often fail at their goals because they start out super big. That is such a mistake. You really do need to start out small and build from there. I also love the idea of finding a low cost gym.

These are some incredible ways to reach your goals. There is nothing quite like setting them and then having a plan to stick to them.

  • Reply Nayantara Hegde February 6, 2018 at 8:51 am

I so agree with you. Most new year fitness resolutions fail. Starting small is a great way to make a good start and stay focused on the goal.

  • Reply Heather February 6, 2018 at 10:59 am

We’re already into February and I haven’t done much to make positive changes. Consistency rather than a crazy fad diet or routine is so important. Hoping to make some changes this month!

Focusing on fitness is a great! There are so many benefits to staying in shape and though I have fallen off the wagon, I hope to set and stick to new fitness goals.
