During the holidays can be a very hard time for some families. Often stressing over the cost of gifts, what to give who and how to get the gifts to loved ones on time! Today, I’m going to be sharing with you a great DIY Personalized Gift: Reindeer Gift Card Clip + Printable Card.
We moved to Toronto from Barrie in the summer of 2010, and then back to Barrie the summer of 2017 – so one thing we have to do every year is send gifts back home to friends and family. I love purchasing them gifts or making them gifts but ALWAYS try to add an extra personal touch. The boxes I send back usually have 2-5 gifts in them, so each gift has to have something special added. This year I decided to send gifts but also include a small gift card from the kids and a DIY little Reindeer with a personalized card!
Disclosure: This post is in partnership with UPS Canada. As always, opinions are all my own.
These little Reindeer are very easy to make you only need a few materials, all of which can be found at the Dollar Tree! It takes about an hour from start to finish to make as many as you can, and the best part? The kids can help and actually do a fantastic job making them – which everyone will love!
My kids love doing crafts and making people gifts. If I ask who wants to help make a gift to give to someone back home before I can even say who it’s for, Justin, Jackson, Jayden and Hanna jump at the chance. I haven’t figured out exactly what we will be making this year but I know for sure we’ll be making these adorable DIY Personalized Gift: Reindeer Gift Card Clip + Printable Cards to clip onto the gift bags to put into the huge boxes we send back home. With the most recent family photo I have, I’ll be sending these to two family members far away and the best part? They will get to them on time thanks to UPS Canada (without breaking the bank). Most of the items bought for these Reindeer Gift Card Clips came from Dollar Tree at just $1.25 per item! Prices you can feel good about during the holidays.
Materials needed for these Homemade Reindeer Gift Card Clips:
- This FREE printable
- Good quality cardstock
- Wooden clothespins
- Brown paint
- Paint Brushes
- Googly Eyes
- Red festive mini pom poms
- Gold pipe cleaners
- Superglue or a glue gun
- Print out our free printable (here) and cut out the cards – set them aside.
- Grab as many clothespins as you need to make and get your surface ready to paint
- Lay the clothespins flat and paint them all brown
- After the paint has dried dab your glue at the bottom of the clothespins and where the eyes will need to go
- Quickly put the red nose pom poms on and your googly eyes
- After they’ve dried take your pipe cleaners and wrap around the top and shape them like antlers. I needed to use 1 pipe cleaner and half another one to get the effect of antlers I got
- Then you are done. Attach to your card, pin your gift card on top and let the gift do the rest!
Aren’t these adorable? The best part is it’s homemade. You can have your kids do them, personalize them even more and make them truly from them and add a bit more fun to it by adding some twine or string to the back and top to reuse them for a Christmas tree ornament! I am confident this is a gift that will be cherished and kept for years to come!
I decided this year to make cards to go along with them too instead of buying those mini boxes or premade cards for gift cards. I thought it would add a really cute touch to the outside of the gift bags when sending them back home and the boxes are opened. They’ll see them first thing, and I don’t know about you but when I see gift cards with a bag I get anxious and can’t wait to see what’s inside, so for me, this is something I wanted to do for those we love!
Sending gifts on time
I don’t know about you, but I always stress out once the end of November approaches and I don’t have my gifts sent. It’s a busy time of year and a lot of people are sending parcels, gifts, and letters. Will my gifts make it on time? I always use UPS during the year to send my gifts for birthdays, holidays and invites but at Christmas I know I can count on them to make sure my gifts arrive on time and intact.
Signing up for UPS My Choice and redirecting packages to a UPS Access Point location makes it easier to track, monitor and receive holiday purchases. I know I’m not the only one who stalks the tracking of packages I send (and also am receiving!). Picking up packages on my own schedule, while I’m running errands, is very convenient!
