Light up Christmas With Philips Hue Play: Holiday Gift Idea

[su_highlight background=”#e1e3e3″][icon name=”star” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Disclosure: This post is in partnership with Philips Canada. As always, opinions are all my own.[/su_highlight]

A few weeks ago when I was asking all my kids what they wanted for Christmas I was thrown list after list after list of toys, clothes, and trinkets from the kids twelve and under but when it came to my fifteen-year-old son I hadn’t heard anything.

So, I asked him and was shocked by his response: Socks, new bedding and a color changing light for his room.

That’s it I thought? That’s easy enough, he doesn’t generally want much so although I was shocked at what the items were I wasn’t shocked that they were simple and easy to do.

Philips has always been a long-standing name in our house. We’ve had items here on the blog, and I love working with them so I was thrilled with the chance to get and review Philips Hue Play Light Bar.

This is exactly what my teen needs. He plays video games in his room on his PC, he is a music fanatic and he has his own Alexa. So, of course, I had to get two. One for my hubby and one for the teen, for under the Christmas tree.

Quite often the boys actually play video games together so this new set up should make their time together even more enjoyable! My husband and my son are both big gaming fans, and so this Christmas, they have also asked for the upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. They have already spent a lot of time researching the game using Cyberpunk 2077 discussion forums and cannot wait to play it once it is finally released. To be honest, even though I am not much of a gamer myself, it looks like a brilliant game. The fact that you can customize your character is just fabulous in my opinion. Also, I was thinking of getting my husband an even more special gift this year. He has always loved the old style gaming and especially things like Diablo, so I have decided to get a d2legit games so that he can have his own fun gaming, with a bit of nostalgia too! I was also thinking about getting him another game that was similar to Diablo. He has shown interest in games like Dota 2, and my son told me that I could get him a dota 2 booster so he could improve his ranking and skills. That’s another option for him if I can’t get Diablo. So, yes, fingers crossed that Santa Claus can bring them a copy of this game to go with their new gaming setup this year.

Anyway, the actual gaming set-up that we have is quite simple. My husband did it in under 5 minutes. We put ours in our living room as we are wrapping a brand new gaming system for the whole family and putting it under the tree Christmas eve, from Santa, and are excited to have the Philips Hue Play to light up our game nights in a unique way. The colors are endless with 16 million colors to choose from – can you believe that? Even my favorite shade of teal was available, and I love it! Setting the Hue Play up with Alexa is also fairly easy if you have one or an Apple Homekit. We will be using our Philips Hue Play for family movie nights until after the holidays when we set up our new gaming area.
