Quick & Easy Cheese Biscuits

Do you have a go-to recipe that you like to make when you need a little extra something on the table for dinner? I do, and it’s this delicious Quick & Easy Cheese Biscuit recipe. It’s a biscuit I’ve made for years, and sometimes I just like a good bun or piece of bread with dinner so taking the 15 minutes it takes to make these up is so worth it to add a little extra something to the dinner table!

I love biscuits. You can’t put a biscuit in front of me that I don’t like, and it seems true for my kids too. I made these with the intentions of taking photos of them and having them with dinner but  within minutes of snapping some photos they were all gone. My oldest who is soon to be sixteen is pretty picky when it comes to most foods and he loves these. Which is both a blessing and a curse because when I make them I have to generally make a triple batch. I suppose there could be worse things he is eating and such though right?

These biscuits are easy to make. So easy that the kids love helping make them, and I can generally just tell them what to put in and they can do it all on their own. Ava loves helping in the kitchen and so does Justin, so she helps him and they make a pretty good team making delicious recipes together.

Ingredients for these biscuits:

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • dash of sea salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese

Prep and Baking Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400F and line your baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Shred your cheese and set aside
  3. In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and garlic. Combine well
  4. Pour milk and butter into your dry mixture and stir until just combined
  5. Add your cheese and mix well
  6. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden as seen in my photos

These turn out really light and flakey. You can play with different seasonings as well. We don’t tend to like them with too much garlic, but rather love having lots of cheese so sometimes we even add 3.5 cups of cheese!

These Quick & Easy Cheese Biscuits make a delicious addition to any dinner table. They are also a really big hit at potlucks and holiday meals! Add thyme, parsley or even a little more garlic if you wish and play with the flavours a little. I’ve even added olives into them before and my kids went nuts for them – and they don’t tend to like olives! It’s all about the flavour!
