Wednesday night I had the incredible pleasure of attending the screening of Cars 3! Now I’ve gotta tell you, Lightning McQueen and friends have been a staple and must have in my family for the last 10 years.
Our superstar lightning faces his biggest adversary yet… age. In a world of newer, quicker, and lighter cars, Lightning soon finds himself being outraced by Jackson Storm! A rookie just like Lightning McQueen, breaking all kinds of records and showing no signs of stopping, Lightning finds himself all alone on the track and uncertainty about his future.
The movie was in 3D and I could have done with it just as well in regular format. The graphics were spectacular as are most all Pixar movies I just found the movie to be too fast paced for great 3D effects. (my only issue).
I took my three youngest boys with me to the movie and I was pleasantly surprised to see the underlying life lessons of teamwork and perseverance that rang throughout the entire movie. The circle of a racecar’s life is showcased and I was glad to see that they continue to pay homage to Doc Hudson. I firmly believe that he greatly solidified the Cars Empire.
My boys loved all of the new characters especially Cruz! Lightning’s personal trainer and as it turns out, the driving force behind lightning’s acceptance of age. There was your fair share of the rest of the gang throughout the movie, but it really was all about the rivalry between lightning and Jackson storm.
We are taught throughout the movie to keep pushing forward, to turn negatives into our own drive towards success. To take our chance when the opportunity is there and to never give up. What better lessons for a movie to be teaching our kids?
As lightning has gone from Rookie all-star to untouchable racer to the old man on the track, the passing of the torch and settling in of a new role for McQueen, was seamless and hopefully carves the way for many more Cars movies in the future!
What an amazing movie with some great life lessons for the kids and generally one of the best movies of the year! Thank you Disney and Pixar!
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

Peter is the dad here at Six Time Mommy. While working a part-time job outside the home Peter also helps raise our seven kids, review items that need a man’s take and puts up with all the shenanigans that comes with being Six Time Daddy!
Disclosure: I received a promotional pass to a screening of this movie. As always opinions are my own.
