Books, Books, BOOKS!
Who doesn’t love books? I know I do and so do my kids. We are constantly looking for great new books that are not only entertaining but educational! Books that actually teach our children something? Who doesn’t love that!
Today I’m going to tell you a bit about The Barefoot Book Worm!
About Barefoot Books
Barefoot Book is a company started by Nancy Traversy and Tessa Strickland in 1992. They wanted to create meaningful and creative careers while still keeping their children the main focus of their lives. For over twenty years they have created bright and colorful books for children combined with beautiful artwork and captivating story telling. These books help foster creative thinking, spark the imagination and curiosity of children of all ages, and help instill a respect for cultural, social and ecological diversity.
Barefoot Books have some traditional stories such as jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, The Red Hen and many more. But what I think sets this company apart is that a lot of the books are original stories with original illustrations and artwork. There are books for all ages 0+, 3+,6+, 8+ and 12+. There is an Independent readers section for early readers, confident readers and advance readers. Many of the books have lesson ideas and guided reading downloads available for free on the website. It is under the For Schools section but it is a great resource for homeschooling family as well. Many of the popular books are available with a sing along CD which makes it extra fun. Barefoot offers not only books, but puzzles, puppets, games and other learning aides.
In the for kids section there are many fun tools such as Arts & Crafts Activities section where you can download the activity and/or templates if required. They are very creative and fun activities to do together as a family. Some examples are “Lola’s Fandago” make your own Lola doll, Jolly Paper Twirlies by Barefoot Books, “The Barefoot books of Earth Tales “ Pine Cone Bird Feeder, and more. There are Story Podcast where you can listen to many stories as well as a new one each week. This is a company which I am excited to work with because not only does it appeal to the book lover in me, but I feel that their style of story telling and colorful illustration will help get my children excited about reading. — thebarefootbookworm.com
Manufacturing Standards at Barefoot Books
Barefoot Books supports a common, internationally recognized social accountability standard to cover working conditions, health and safety issues, remuneration, working hours and the prohibition of the use of child and forced labour. It’s called the CARE Process. It is the standard used by the global toy industry and is managed by their industry body, the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI).
All of our printing partners carry ICTI CARE certification. See www.icticare.org for more information.
All of the ink used by our printers is vegetable based.
Our print suppliers have systems in place to feed paper offcuts and wastage back into their supply chain. Our packaging is made from recycled material and recycled again after use. We recycle as much as possible in our own offices and Studios.
Freight from Manufacturer to Warehouses
We control and reduce our carbon footprint by tailoring print runs to fill shipping containers. This has allowed us to reduce the number of shipments that we send via sea freight to our warehouses.
Sounds pretty amazing right? The books are unique, affordable and fun! There is a book for everyone! Not only do they have wonderful stories with wonderful meanings and teachings for children they are also extremely relevant and important! Kids are learning so much as such a young age, why not have them learn through fun reading!
