The Best Baby Shower Gift for Expectant Parents

Disclosure: This post is in partnership with PTPA and Philips Avent. As always, opinions are all my own.

Is it just me or does it seem like the spring and summer months bring out a lot of baby shower gatherings? I only ever had one baby shower, with my first sixteen years ago and it was in the summer months too, I remember it like it was yesterday. It was one of the last times I truly remember being happy that my grandma was there and I would have done so many things differently had I known she would only be with us for about a year or so more.

Today though, I’m going to talk to you about much happier things, like fun baby showers and gifts! The best part of the baby shower beyond showering that mama to be with love and belly rubs, is giving gifts. People give the same things over and over, I can’t tell you how many packs of the same size diapers I got (I had to go exchange some for different sizes, big inconvenience for mamas) so I always try to make sure I am giving gifts that will be used, wanted and not everyone else will think of right off the bat.

One thing I always made sure I had for all of my babies, even if they never used it or not was pacifiers. I always made sure, even now with Mia being 14 months old, that there are some in our house at all times. The Philips Avent Soothie Snuggle is one of the best inventions ever. Why? Because not only can you change the soother that is used, which let’s face it not every baby likes the same nipples and spending money on something the baby won’t use isn’t ideal for anyone! But also, because the soft cuddly plush is extremely baby friendly, and easy to wash and care for.

Fun fact: Trusted by healthcare professionals to calm newborns, Soothies are distributed in hospitals in the USA.

Although Mia is a little too big for a soothie, and never really got into them like her older sister Kyla or big brother Jayden, she loves to gnaw on it. She loves the feel of the plush, and she loves being able to chew on something that she can hold on to and is hers.

The best part of the plush? It’s lightly weighed so it helps make babies feel a little more secure, and less likely to drop and get lost in the shuffle. It’s the perfect size for little hands, and to grab and toss in moms purse on the go, just in case!

The Philips Avent Soothie Snuggle has a second attachment mechanism, for use with pacifiers that have ring handles. It comes with 0-3m Soothie and given the fact it’s the pacifier used by doctors and nurses to calm newborns, it makes this a great choice for a baby shower gift to give to expectant moms and dads who may not have soothers in mind. I know how overwhelming a new baby can be and, in the hustle and bustle, a lot of things are forgotten.

I had no idea when I gave birth the first time, I should have had one on hand at all times, but I learned really quickly and he enjoyed soothers for the first 6 months of his life. Some babies just love how soothing sucking on a soother can be, so even if you aren’t sure the parents will be using them, adding a soothie to a gift basket is always great idea. The parents will be so thankful you did!
