When it comes to reading there is only one person I want helping me with reviews. That’s Jordan. He not only reads at a high school level he is a speed reader and will be brutally honest with me about books he’s reading. He is also beyond his years in maturity, so after reading a few reviews I asked him if he wanted to read them too, and maybe have a little challenge with me. So, I gave him and I both a challenge to read these books in one month and at the end we’d compare what we thought.
We took a month and both read and agreed not to talk to each other about the books until we were both done. Of course, he finished before me and finally when we were able to discuss we both agreed: These book are fabulous, well written and we can’t wait to read more!
I’m surprised by both of our thoughts on the books. If you love reading, or have a teen or preteen who does as well I highly recommend The Gatekeeper’s Trilogy by Eva Pohler.
Synopsis:
A teen becomes entangled with the gods of Mount Olympus when one of them, Thanatos, the god of death, wants his chance at love. He makes a deal with his father, Hades, but not all the gods want him to succeed.
Part paranormal romance and part adventure story, this trilogy follows Therese’s adventures as she struggles to overcome the challenges the gods dish her in her quest to become like them.
What Other Reader’s Are Saying:
Readers are calling this series “Amazing,” “Addicting,” and “One of the best modern retelling of ancient myth.”
Where to get the trilogy:
You can purchase the trilogy on Kobo, Smashwords, Google Play, Kindle, iBooks and Nook
Thoughts:
Both Jordan and I were impressed with the writing of this book. Eva Pohler is an excellent author and we were pleasantly surprised at how we were both drawn into the series from a few pages in. I know for me, I stared off a bit iffy. I’m not one for books like these, I’m more into biography, memoir and another trilogy I will not name but these 3 books – they kept me entertained and wondering what was going to happen next.
I won’t give any details away, but if you are looking for a good read (or three!) I do recommend picking this trilogy up. Now, there are a few more books of Eva Pohler’s in this series I want to read when I get the time. They are on my list for summer reading. I’m anxious to see what happens next with the whole saga, and I look forward to reading more from Eva.
Could you see yourself enjoying this Trilogy? What kind of books do you like to read?
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I was given this product complimentary to review. However all opinions are mine and 100% true.
I think my oldest would really like this. He needs some new books to read anyways, so these would be perfect.
Sounds like it could be a good read for my teen. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! I love reading, and have a stack of books “to read” piling up! ;)
Like you, this is not the type of book I would go for. But it’s interesting how both you and your son reviewed it. Might add to list. Thanks!
I absolutely love reading so I will definitely be adding these to my reading list! And I love being able to talk with people about books we are both reading
You have me convinced that I would love these books. Good idea to bring in your pre-teen/teen to help out with the review!
I love books like this and if I’m not mistaken, I’ve read this trilogy before. If not, I need to.
Thanks for sharing a neat trilogy. I’ll have to read more about this series. My kids might like it when they are older.
I have not heard of this trilogy before!! I love finding series that I can just dive right into especially when we are traveling long distances. This sounds like a great read as well with a great story line.
The gatekeeper trilogy is also available as an audiobook, which is great for car trips. You can get it through amazon, itunes, and audible.com.
I like that you did this without talking about them during the reading period. Awesome that you both loved them!
Thanks for the honest review! I am always looking for new books to read.
My mom and I love reading books like these. We were looking for another great series to read so I’ll be sure to let her know of this.
Wow, Jordan must have a large collection of books considering that he reads so fast. We too were honed to become speed readers since we have to review a number of books and write summaries and insights from them. I would love to read The Gatekeeper’s Trilogy soon and become addicted to it! I’ll download it later from Google Play so I’d have a copy on my phone.
I’m going to look for these at our library, they look interesting.
This sounds really interesting! I am adding it to my to read list!
Not into this kind of reads yet seems these books could be entertaining
I have a pre-teen and teenage son who probably won’t read this. They’d think that it was a girly girl book but I probably might.
This trilogy sounds like an interesting read! My preteen is an avid reader too and would probably enjoy the mythology theme as well. Maybe we’ll have our own reading club challenge! Love that idea!
This series sounds intriguing! Very cool that you and Jordan are reading books together and discussing them.
Paranormal romance?? This is awesome. I often read trilogies because I just love having another book to look forward to – and then another!
I love to read, but I’m very picky and need something to pull me in almost immediately. This doesn’t sound like my type of book, but you definitely have me curious.
I never heard of this series but it looks interesting! Paranomal romance novels are really becoming a thing!
I love finding great books from other readers. I especially love series where they don’t have to wrap up the story in just one book. This sounds a little bit like Percy Jackson, but for the YA reader. I love to read YA books and so does my husband. I can’t wait to check these out. Thanks!
I love young adult novels. I might have to check these out! I love that you both read it and talked about it. :)
I am re-reading “The Soookie Stackhouse” series. Guess I’m more into the supernatural read :)
Summer is here and it is the time to delve into a good book. I will have to take a look at this series because it seems to have all the components of books that I like to read. Greek mythology with paranormal sounds intriguing. Thanks for the review.
I love series books. I want to read these.
You have totally caught my attention. I love a good book series and this one sounds good.
I love finding new books to read! Thanks for sharing!
I looove Books like these .. I’m always curious to know how do they measure reading by levels?
I have never heard of this trilogy but I will recommend it to my fiancé mentee! Thanks for sharing!
I love that you and your son read this series together, my mother and I use to do that when I was growing up and we still do to this day. It’s always much more fun reading a book alongside someone so you can discuss it! Thanks for sharing!
I haven’t really heard of this series, but I bet I have friends who would love it. I need to read more!
This sounds like a perfect buy for our oldest. She loves Greek god storylines and she devours literary trilogies. Thank you for identifying this for me – I am totally going to be a hero this summer!
my son is an advanced reader as well and would have read this type of book in 3rd or 4th grade- but now he likes the classics and such things like Shakespeare. I’ll have to see if my younger daughters would like these
I am not much of a fan of this genre but I am open minded and would be willing to check these out. I love summer reading and relaxing with good books.
What interesting storylines. I have not heard of this series before, sounds like you enjoyed it!
If my son was just a bit older I would pick these up for him, instead I think I might get them for myself!
Sounds like a great series of books! Adding it to my reading list now!
I have never read this trilogy or anything by this author. I am always looking for new authors – adding this to my MUST READ list. I enjoy all types of books – I love to read.
Thanks for sharing these books! Love hearing about new books!
